2014 update 2

Posted by admin on June 11, 2017

Dear supporters

Following my recent request for volunteers, I'm delighted to tell you that we now have a new committee member, Nicholas Maxwell.  Also Linda Burgess has volunteered to distribute updates to members who are not on email.  Warmest thanks to both of them for their support.

The Roseland Neighbourhood Plan team are also looking for volunteers.  For those of you who like to get out and about rather than sitting on committees this project may be just up your street.  If you're interested contact John Adams direct. You'll find full details below.

All the best Helen

Volunteers wanted: help protect our unique Roseland landscape

Now that we've had a close look at the questionnaires that so many of you completed (816 to date!), it's clear that protecting the landscape is one of the key priorities.

Local Landscape Character Assessment (LLCA) is a tool that describes the landscape in great detail and will be a crucial building block of the Roseland Plan. We've been lucky enough to be chosen as part of a pilot study, which means we get help to generate our very own Roseland LLCA. It will give us detailed evidence which will feed into the development of policies directly relating to land use and future developments on the Roseland.

The LLCA document will define and celebrate everything about our landscape that is important to our community.  Most important of all, it will be created by the local community.  It will be created by you!

Our participation in the pilot study puts us in a strong position, especially as we have two passionate landscape architects from the Roseland on board.  However experts are not enough.

We now need a group of volunteers to help us over the next five months or so to produce our LLCA.  No special or specific expertise is required, just a willingness to get stuck in and tramp around the Roseland making notes and taking pictures. Training will be provided. We hope it will be fun!

If you'd like to be part of this exciting and useful venture and make a really important contribution to producing The Roseland Plan, please contact me ASAP by email or phone.  We will be having training sessions in February/March.

Best wishes

John Adams
Secretary of the Roseland NDP Steering Group.

PS If you know of anyone who would like to get involved, but who might not be on our email distribution list, please feel free to extend this invitation to them.
