Call for questions
Friends of Pendower Beach AGM and open meeting: 7.30pm Thursday 13th November, Gerrans Memorial Hall
'The politics of landscape protection: policy, implementation, decision-making: Mind the gap!'
I hope you all have 13th November in your diaries.
As promised I'm now sending you bio-notes and policy statements from our panel guests: Sarah Newton (Cons), Simon Rix (Lib Dem), Loic Rich (Independent) and Rik Evans (NHAP). Sharron Kelsey (Green Party) has also said she will be coming but has not sent me any information so far.
Hanna Toms (Lab) and Stephen Richardson (Mebyon Kernow) are unfortunately unable to attend. We also invited the UKIP candidate. I gather someone has been selected but they have not yet made their name public and haven't contacted me.
Now is the time for you to send me your questions. I'm sure the attached statements will give rise to plenty! Questions should focus on issues connected with landscape and landscape protection. I hope the discussion will demonstrate where differences in Party policy lie. A key issue I also want us to bring to light is the gap between policy and implementation. What will our politicians do to ensure that planning decisions are in line with planning policy? What enforcement and sanctions will they impose when principles and rules are flouted?
It would be helpful (but not essential) if you can send in your questions by 6th November, a week in advance, so we can organise the topics and give the discussion a structure. We hope to ask people to read out their questions on the night, so please confirm if you're willing to do so. If you can't come to the meeting but would still like to put a question could you just make clear that you won't be in the room. Send your questions to me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Friends of Pendower Beach Annual General Meeting
The AGM will take place at 7.30pm, before the main meeting. It should last no more than ten minutes or so. Papers relating to the AGM will be sent out on 7th November.
As you know the meeting is open to everyone. It seems to be attracting a lot of attention. To be sure of a seat please come in good time. Doors will open at 6.45pm.
I look forward to welcoming all of you who can make it on the 13th .
With all good wishes
